Shanequa Evans is a passionate public servant that specializes in leadership and organizational development of youth centered programs within underserved communities. She is the Program Manager for the Rutgers Future Scholars program under the Center for PreCollege Programs at Rutgers University- Newark. Through her role, she oversees the program that makes college accessible to promising youth from low socioeconomic backgrounds, in the city of Newark. She is a proud native of Paterson, NJ, with over seven years of experience managing educational programs in the out of school time setting. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Public Health from the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy at Rutgers University. In December 2023, Shanequa completed her Master of Public Administration with a concentration in Leadership of Public Organizations at Rutgers University. Shanequa joined the CDF Freedom Schools® family in 2019, serving as the Site Coordinator and Project Director for the NewArk CDF Freedom Schools site. She is a second-year Ella Baker Trainer. Shanequa was recently selected as one of the National Afterschool Association’s (NAA) 2024 Next Generation of Afterschool Leaders Honorees. Shanequa has dedicated her career to amplifying the voices of youth and creating opportunities for all youth to thrive. She believes that through her work, she can serve as a champion for all youth, to create lasting social impact.
