Kaitlyn Foust, a native of Knoxville, TN, works as a Family Resource and Support Specialist with Nurture the Next in Oak Ridge, TN. In this role, Foust works with new and expectant parents to promote the parent-child relationship. She also facilitates the Darkness to Light: Stewards of Children training on the identification and prevention of child sexual abuse to organizations, churches, and schools in surrounding communities. Kaitlyn’s passion for being a child advocate stems from both her personal experiences and her studies. She graduated from Maryville College in 2022 with her B.A. in Developmental Psychology, Child Trauma, and Resilience and is now working towards her M.A. in Child Advocacy and Policy from Montclair State University. While attending Maryville College, Foust was a Bonner Scholar, completing 280 hours of community service per school year. Another requirement of this scholarship was to serve with a nonprofit each summer. This requirement is how Kaitlyn found East Tennessee CDF Freedom Schools® site. There she served as a Servant Leader Intern for three years. Foust hopes to use this opportunity as an Ella Baker Trainer to further educate herself on how to best advocate for all children.
