Janell Massaline is the Future Center Coordinator at Florida A&M University Developmental Research School (FAMU DRS), guiding secondary students towards their postsecondary plans, through the College Reach Out Program, ElevateED Success Coaching program, Campus Tour Experiences and additional higher education and the workforce initiatives.In addition to her role at FAMU DRS, Janell serves as the Executive Director of the Florida A&M University College of Education-Developmental Research School Freedom School Program. Her passion for educational empowerment has been evident through her work with the CDF Freedom Schools since 2016. She began as a Servant Leader Intern and, over the years, progressed to the positions of Site Coordinator and Project Director, further solidifying her dedication to fostering positive change in her community. Currently, Janell Serves as an Ella Baker Trainer with CDF Freedom Schools.
Janell is a 6th generation Rattler, who earned her bachelor’s degree in English Education at Florida A&M University in 2016. She has served as a middle and high school English and Journalism Teacher with experience in the Tampa and Tallahassee communities. Her dedication and excellence in the field were recognized when she was honored as the Secondary Teacher of the Year at FAMU DRS in 2022. Janell Massaline is dedicated not only to her professional career but also to her family, with her daughter, Sariah, soon beginning her master’s degree in Instructional Systems and Learning Technologies, showcasing their shared commitment to education and personal growth.
