CDF NAMES PATTI HASSLER VICE PRESIDENT OF COMMUNICATIONS AND OUTREACH

Washington—Children’s Defense Fund has named Patti Hassler as its Vice President of Communications and Outreach. Hassler is an award-winning journalist and a 30-year veteran of CBS News. For most of that tenure Hassler was at 60 Minutes, the most watched newsmagazine in the nation. While at 60 Minutes, Hassler was executive editor when it won numerous Emmys and other top journalism awards. Hassler is a graduate of Smith College.

“Patti has had a long and very distinguished career with CBS’ 60 Minutes and comes with the highest recommendations,” Marian Wright Edelman, CDF president and founder, said. “I know Patti will take CDF’s communications efforts to the highest level ever at a critical time,” she added.

“I am thrilled and deeply honored to have this opportunity to join CDF,” Hassler said. “I look forward to working with Marian Wright Edelman, the CDF board, the staff and the whole CDF community,” she added. “Together we will enhance the impact and reach of CDF to improve the lives of America’s most vulnerable children.”
