As we enter the second half of 2021, New Yorkers continue to experience the numerous impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, especially the pandemic-fueled rise in food insecurity.
With the conclusion of the 2021 Legislative Session, we pause to take stock of progress for New York’s children and families, celebrate our victories and assess where further advocacy is needed to level the playing field for the youngest New Yorkers.
The New York State Senate and Assembly have passed S.282 (Myrie) / A.6769 (Hyndman), legislation providing people who were eligible for youthful offender (YO) status but denied in the past a new opportunity to apply for it.
