Over the past many weeks I’ve traveled to all corners of the City and across all five boroughs to attend community engagement sessions set up by the Department of Education (DOE) to discuss needed reforms to the Student Code of Conduct.
As summer winds down and students start heading back to school, I wanted to remember the Freedom Schools in New York City this summer that were full of fun, fellowship and freedom! From Red Hook all the way to the Bronx, Freedom Schools served over 400 young people ages 5 to 18 years old.
The relentless, immoral assault on immigrant children and families by this Administration continues. The Department of Homeland Security Public Charge rule announced today and finalized on Wednesday will further threaten the health and well-being of these families, subjecting them to increased risk of poverty, hunger and a lack basic health care.
