Shonice Pettaway is a native of Eastern North Carolina who now calls Charlotte, NC her home. She is a high school Health and Physical Education teacher and head varsity girls’ basketball coach for Charlotte Mecklenburg School district. Shonice is a graduate of Queens University of Charlotte where she was a collegiate basketball player with 3rd all-time leading scorer and rebounding records. In Charlotte NC, she has been a part of the Freedom School movement since 2012 serving as a Servant Leader Intern, Site Administrative Assistant, Site Coordinator, and currently serves as a Regional Site Manager for Freedom School Partners. She is also a first year Ella Baker Trainer and she is super excited to continue this impactful work.
