Christophe D. Ringer is an Associate Professor of Theological Ethics and Society at Chicago Theological Seminary. He authored “Necropolitics and the Religious Crisis of U.S. Mass Incarceration” and co-edited “Moved by the Spirit: Religion and the Movement for Black Lives.” He holds a Ph.D. from Vanderbilt University.
Ringer’s research includes Black religion, social and theological ethics, and public political theology. He has taught at American Baptist College, New Brunswick Theological Seminary, and others. He served as pastor of Howard Congregational (UCC) and has experience in community development. Ringer is a Public Religion Research Institute Fellow and is active in the campaign to abolish wealth-based pre-trial incarceration. He offers spiritual coaching through Soul Craft Coaching. Ringer is married to Minister Kimberly Peeler-Ringer.
