Rev. Dr. Ayo M. Morton is a preacher, teacher, poet, and novelist shaped by Richmond Public Schools, Hampton University, and Virginia Union University. She completed her PhD in Womanist Vernacular Discourse at the University of Memphis. Licensed at Antioch Baptist Church and ordained at Saint Paul’s Baptist Church, she is an assistant professor of Rhetoric and Composition at Virginia State University. A proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, she has authored three novels, a devotional, and a spoken word album. Dr. Morton believes, “I strategically place words in the correct order to reorder their lives,” using her gifts to honor God.
