Frederick V. LaMarr

Pastor Frederick V. LaMarr has served as senior pastor of Family Missionary Baptist Church since 1997. He is a devoted husband to Michelle Bogan LaMarr, whom he married on August 11, 1984, and a proud father to their daughter, Micahya Danyell. A proud graduate of Columbus East High School (Class of 1978), he studied business management at Columbus Business University and held multiple roles with Big Bear Stores, retiring as a department manager in 2004 to pursue full-time ministry. Pastor LaMarr earned degrees in practical ministry and biblical counseling and studied biblical languages at Eastern Union Bible College and pastoral leadership at the Moody Bible Institute. He is a certified biblical counselor through the International Association of Biblical Counselors and is set to earn a master’s degree in Black Church Studies on May 24, 2025. He has served as past president of the Columbus Baptist Pastors’ Conference and is a chaplain with both the Franklin County Juvenile Detention Center and Sheriff’s Clergy. In 2016, he helped launch Bounce23TV and created Pulse of the City, a talk show celebrating the achievements of inner-city communities. He believes deeply in mentoring the next generation, “each one reaching and teaching the next one.”
