Imran Malik Awan is a multicultural, multilingual interfaith leader dedicated to faith-in-action service that unites communities. For more than 27 years, he has worked to build bridges across belief systems through outreach, advocacy, and interfaith collaboration. Awan serves as an advisory faith leader for the Divided Community Project’s Community Resiliency Initiative and is on the advisory board of the Washington Gladden Social Justice Park, the first of its kind in the U.S. He is a past chair of the American Islamic Waqf and past president of the executive committee at Noor Islamic Cultural Center, where he led outreach and interfaith efforts. He now leads NICC’s first satellite campus. He has founded or co-founded several interfaith and justice initiatives, including Abraham’s Tent, the Safe Alliance of Interfaith Leaders, and the Columbus Faith Coalition’s prayer team. His leadership also extends to the Veterans Interfaith Bridge of Ohio and the Hilliard YMCA. Awan’s bridge-building work has earned him multiple honors, including the 2023 Michael A. Meyer Upstander Award, the 2022 Social Justice Living Faith Award, and the 2015 Jefferson Award for Interfaith and Outreach.
