Bruce has led First Focus on Children and its partner organization First Focus Campaign for Children since 2006 and 2009, respectively. Prior to that, Bruce worked on Capitol Hill for over a dozen years for three different senators and two House members on the Senate Finance and HELP Committees and on the Senate Special Committee on Aging and the House Energy and Commerce and Appropriations Committees. In the Washington, D.C. area, Bruce also served as the head of health and human services policy for the Texas Office of State-Federal Relations and Director of Congressional Relations for the Children’s Hospital Association. In his earlier years, Bruce worked as the district director for a Texas state representative, the lead policy staff assistant to the El Paso County Judge, and then as policy director for University Medical Center in El Paso, Texas. Bruce holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Government and Politics from the University of Maryland Global Campus and a Master’s Degree in Political Psychology from Arizona State University.
