Economic mobility is a cornerstone of opportunity and well-being for children and families in New York State, particularly for those facing the challenges of poverty. We enthusiastically support New York Can End Child Poverty and CPRAC in their goal to expand vehicles like the Empire State Child Tax Credit and cash assistance programs to provide critical support to families striving to achieve financial stability and create sustainable futures. CDF-NY emphasizes the importance of policies that prioritize economic equity to reduce child poverty and improve long-term outcomes in health, education, and economic security to ensure that every child has the resources to thrive and build a bright future.

Racial Ethnic Impact Statement

CDF-NY leads a Racial Ethnic Impact Statement Workgroup, comprising New York State advocates, with the goal of mandating that state legislative proposals are assessed for any potential racially disparate impacts on communities of color, particularly focusing on children from these communities. This initiative aims to ensure that policies are equitable and support the economic mobility for marginalized communities.
