CDF Executive Listening Sessions

In 2022, Children’s Defense Fund (CDF) launched a multi-state listening campaign led by our President and CEO, Rev. Dr. Starsky Wilson. Over the course of seven sessions across the nation, we connected with CDF Freedom Schools® staff, scholars, and parents to discuss the well-being of their children and the state of their communities. 

The voices we heard have guided our mission and helped shape our 2024-2030 Public Policy Agenda. 

The 2024 CDF Executive Listening Sessions continue to redefine expertise by centering the lived experiences of children, youth, families, and communities. We’re deepening our commitment to listening closely to their concerns and engaging in meaningful conversations about the most pressing issues in their lives. Their insights on policies and priorities are shaping our strategies and driving our efforts toward impactful change. 

These voices guide our understanding of our communities’ challenges and the solutions they seek. Together, we are creating a future where every child has the opportunity to thrive.
