Children’s Defense Fund-Ohio is saddened to learn of the passing of its friend and former Advisory Council member Brigid Kelly. Brigid died Tuesday evening after a two-year battle with cancer.
In addition to her work with Children’s Defense Fund-Ohio, Brigid also previously served as a Norwood city council member, Ohio state representative, auditor for Hamilton County, and representative for the men and women of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union [UFCW]. According to her family, Brigid was a “true public servant.”
Children’s Defense Fund-Ohio Policy Associate Matthew Tippit served as Brigid’s intern and legislative aide during her time in the Ohio Statehouse. He shared the following statement regarding Brigid’s service of legacy and impact on the people of Ohio:
“Brigid Kelly was the best of us. She was the kindest, humblest, and most caring person anyone could hope to meet. I only had the honor of knowing her for three years, but I learned and grew so much during that time, and she played a big part in that. There aren’t enough words to describe what she meant to me and this world, so all I have left to say is thank you, BK.”
