This past December, a group of young advocates, who survived abuse and neglect and are working to prevent it from happening to others, celebrated a major milestone: legislators and government officials accepted their proposal for an office dedicated to investigating abuse and rights violations reported by youth who are in foster, kinship, biological, or residential placements.

Child Health
According to research conducted nationally, children who suffer from chronic conditions or untreated medical needs, such as asthma, tooth pain, diabetes, and other conditions, are more likely to be chronically absent from school. Today, nearly 170,000 children in Ohio under age 18 have been diagnosed with asthma, and 20% of third graders have untreated cavities.
Programs
With support from the NBA Foundation, CDF will soon revitalize its historic efforts to develop a pipeline of Black servant leaders who will lead today’s movements and guide us towards a brighter future where children, especially our most marginalized, are provided every opportunity to thrive.
