Children’s Sabbath – A Voice for Children

October 18, 2018 | New York

Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.
– Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

The 27th Annual Children’s Sabbath Celebration, “Realizing Dr. King’s Vision for Every Child: Lives of Hope, Not Despair,” is observed this weekend (October 19-21).  Faith communities across the country will be exploring the texts and teachings of religious traditions that call us to nurture, protect and seek justice for children. With great intentionality, we come together to ensure our nation values our children and protects the common good.  Now more than ever, there is a moral imperative for all of us to participate in public life. We not only have to raise our voices on behalf of children, we need to get out and cast our votes. We must strive to hold those in office accountable, and to put in office candidates whose positions reflect our beliefs and principals. Our democracy, and our children, require nothing less.
