As pillars of our communities, schools play a critical role in shaping the future of our youth. Every child deserves a quality education and an opportunity to thrive and meet their full potential. However, exclusionary school discipline policies– discipline practices that exclude children from school– harm students and contribute to the community to prison pipeline, putting far too many children on a pathway to incarceration. This report describes the state of exclusionary school discipline practices in Ohio as a contributing factor to the community to prison pipeline.
